Hair loss occurs under 3 sets of conditions and you can have an overlay of more than one condition at a time.
1.The first and the most well know is the genetic predisposition to hair loss. This is a dominant gene and can be passed by both mother and father but is predominantly passed on the by the mothers gene contribution. There is not much you can do to avoid the hair loss here and it affects both men and women.
2.The second cause for hair loss can be hormonal. For both men and women age and the inevitable changes in the androgenic hormones (estrogen and testosterone) can contribute to hair loss. Having a hormonal panel done is not just for women, I recommend men also track their hormones as they age and address hormonal changes with diet and nutrition to support a healthy aging process.
3.Skin conditions such as seborrhea of the scalp can lead to hair loss as the dermatitis blocks the hair follicle and normal hair growth. This skin condition can be caused by both food and environmental sensitivities. Locating and removing the triggers can be done naturally.
