The issue in question is Rumsfeld’s history with a company named Gilead Sciences. For old Rummy it is a tale of a golden “Bird in Hand” shined bright by panic over a flu that might someday be and vaccines of questionable value.

Heres How it Goes:

• Tamiflu, the vaccine sweetheart of the tale, was born and patented by Gilead Sciences.
• Gilead doesn’t make the stuff but does collect lovely royalty tolls at the gate to this vaccine dance.
• Now Gilead Sciences is no bit player and has some big names on the Board of Directors. Amongst those was Donny Rumsfeld, bird in hand and smiling.
• Seems Donny got on Board in the late 1980’s and was even named Chairman where he sat in the BIG chair until he got to be our Secrecy of Defense.
• So our boy now hold lots of stock in Gilead Sciences
• The rest is clear, right. Scream Bird Flu Panic from the roof tops. Fearlessly in the face of Pandemic, spend billions of tax payer dollars on Tamiflu.
• Demand for Tami soars on breathless wings. Stock price flys higher and higher.
• “Oh Donny, it IS a wonderful world”, Tami whispers ever so softly in Big D.’s quivering ear.
• And the kids ask, Can you tell us the story of the Weapons of Mass Destruction Panic, the real Mass Destruction and No Bid Contracts to Dick and Halliburton.
