Posted by: Naturally In: Supplements and Herbs
Animal and clinical studies have indicated that gastrointestinal bacteria play an important role in the development of ulcerative colitis (UC), and that supplemention with probiotics is beneficial for UC. However, different probiotics can be expected to have different effects on UC.
Research article to be published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology compared the effects of four strains of probiotics (E.feacalis, L.acidophilus, C.butyricum and B.adolescentis) in order to find strains that are effective with UC. The results showed that all four strains of probiotics could relieve symptom of experimental colitis . However, the effectiveness of E.faecalis was better than the other three strains.
Researchers note that more rtesearch is required.
