A new study published in American Journal of Clinical Nutrition confirms the path to health and preventing the big killers that also drive huge perscription drug sales: obesity, cancer, cardiovascular disease.

Lower cancer rates in older adults is associated with a low calorie diet and regular exercise, up to a 50 percent reduction of risk according to one of the studies reviewed.

Control of hypertension could potentially prevent one-fifth of coronary heart disease cases in men, and 30 percent in women.

For seniors, calcium and vitamin D supplements helped reduce bone loss rates and bone fracture numbers.
