A study reported at the annual meeting of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians has found that yoga is beneficial in lowering blood pressure.
The research was a review of 12 published randomized trials found favorable effects of several mind-body therapies on blood pressure. Of these, yoga was the most beneficial.
The study found that yoga and meditation significantly reduced systolic blood pressure, however only yoga showed significant reductions in diastolic blood pressure.
The research reviewed how mediation, yoga and visualization worked as a treatment for hypertension compared to placebo or other types of pro-active treatments.
