In news that clearly shows where the big health insurance firms stand on any health care reform, according to a report in the National Journal online edition, six large health insurers secretly funded television ads attacking health care reform. Insiders say something between $10 million and $20 million, came from Aetna, Cigna, Humana, Kaiser Foundation Health Plans, UnitedHealth Group and Wellpoint, according to two health care lobbyists familiar with the transactions, says the report.
The ad funding was channeled through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce which then funneled the money through two business coalitions.
In response to the news Kaiser said it contributed funds only for positive ads on health care reform.
