Surprise E-Cigarettes Dangerous

Posted by: Natural Medicine In: Community

e-cigarette
FDA notified healthcare professionals and patients that a laboratory analysis of electronic cigarette samples has found that they contain carcinogens and toxic chemicals such as diethylene glycol, an ingredient used in antifreeze.

Electronic cigarettes, also called “e-cigarettes,” are battery-operated devices that generally contain cartridges filled with nicotine, flavor and other chemicals. The electronic cigarette turns nicotine, which is highly addictive, and other chemicals into a vapor that is inhaled by the user. These products are marketed and sold to young people and are readily available online and in shopping malls. They are also available in different flavors, such as chocolate and mint, which may appeal to young people.

The FDA’s Division of Pharmaceutical Analysis analyzed the ingredients in a small sample of cartridges from two leading brands of electronic cigarettes. In one sample, the FDA’s analyses detected diethylene glycol, a chemical used in antifreeze that is toxic to humans, and in several other samples, the FDA analyses detected carcinogens, including nitrosamines.

These products do not contain any health warnings comparable to FDA-approved nicotine replacement products or conventional cigarettes. Because these products have not been submitted to the FDA for evaluation or approval, at this time the agency has no way of knowing, except for the limited testing it has performed, the levels of nicotine or the amounts or kinds of other chemicals that the various brands of these products deliver to the user.

The question is, when does the FDA begin to treat any form of nicotine as the dangerous, addictive drug it is.

I suggest you read the report your self before making bold statements. The FDA report shows nothing consistant. Cigarettes are the worst with thousands of carcinogens and other chemicals found in many worse things than antifreeze aswell as antifreeze.

here is the official report

http://www.fda.gov/downloads/Drugs/ScienceResearch/UCM173250.pdf

They only tested 2 foreign company’s liquid nicotine.
They found less than 1% of diethylene glycol, which is used as a drying agent for tobacco. There is far more in traditional cigarettes.
while these e-cigs are not harmless, they are better than regular cigarettes.

Don’t let this bias big tobacco paid for cheap experiment deter you from changing your habbit to a better one.

do your own research.

I found http://www.zigcigs.com to be a nice start. They put together quite the argument for e-cigs.

Yes, agreed. It may be the lesser evil. However, people should still be aware of this information and the fact that nicotine is indeed a drug.

The FDA is a government agency. The Government gets their money from taxes. Regular cigarettes and the cigarette industry pays lots of taxes. The ATF (Arms, Tobacco and Firearms) is a strong agency.

They will defend regular cigarettes even if they are way more harmful than e-cigs. The Government doesn’t care about your health, they care about your money.

If regular cigarettes produce more money for the Government than e-cigs, they will kill the e-cig.

1. my brother is using the e-cig to stop smoking. He’s tried “the nicotine patch”, but not only did it give him side effects, he also had a problem getting over the hand to mouth motion addiction. To compensate he started eating.

Eventually he went back to smoking.

When his first baby was born, he started the E-cigarette and he’s been doing great quitting.

he started at the nicotine dose you’d get in a normal cigarette… only there is no tar and other additives that can cause cancer. Nicotine is addictive like Caffiene and it’s not good for you, but it’s not a cancer enducing agent. It’s the other stuff in cigarettes the E-cigarettes are free from.

there is no smell and no second hand smoke which is great for mom and baby… and for me. (I’m asthmatic and hanging out with him and his wife use to suck sometimes.)

Now he’s on a lower dose of Nicotine. E-cigs have all sorts of doses from Cigarette levels, to absolutely NO nicotine.

he hopes to get down to ZERO nicotine soon, and stay on that for a while to satisfy his hand to mouth addiction.

isn’t zero nicotine better than an actual cigarette?

2. my friend is trying to lose weight. She’s one of these people who has to eat when she’s watching tv, eat when she’s bored, eat when she’s upset… if her hands aren’t busy, she’s popping food in her mouth.

She started a ZERO-nicotine filter… one chocolate flavored, one green-tea. It satisfies her cravings and gives her hands something to do… and there’s no tar, no addictive nicotine and no other harmful additives cigarettes would have. She says she does notice she’s eating less.

isn’t eating less healthier than over eating, or smoking?

3. They say it’s “aimed at kids” with the flavors… so only kids like Chocolate, and strawberry flavors?

Look, even the nicotine free e-cigs are not sold to anyone under the legal age of 18. No business would risk their lisence to sell to underage kids. Everywhere I go, I see 60 year olds getting carded because it’s the rules.

Most underage kids who smoke get the cigarettes from parents or other adults who buy them for the kids. A kid can’t usually walk into a grocery store and buy cigarettes… especially now-a-days when such an act could put a business at risk for fines or worse. So the adults buying these for kids need to take just as much responsibility for the kids smoking as cigarette companies.

So E-cigs are NOT meant for kids regardless of their flavors. That’s like saying wine companies are aiming their products at kids just because they come up with fruiter flavors.

4. My brother and other smokers will attest to the fact they are saving mucho buckos. Cigarettes are taxed so much, one box costs an entire paycheck.

5. Like Francis said, the FDA is a government entity. The FDA wants to tax cigarettes, sodas, chips, fatty foods…

why? Not because they want you to be healthy… they know people who are seriously addicted will buy cigarettes no matter the cost. They know parents will buy their kids sugary drinks, sodas and chips.

the whole idea of saying “it’s bad for you” is to tax you. those taxes go to the government to make up for the millions of dollars the stimulus plan set aside to study radioactive rabbit poops (actually, that IS in the stimulus.)

Thats all it’s about. Taxing you in the name of health, when they’re really taxing what they can to make money to pay off the debt America is in.

that’s why E-cigs are a threat. They will make less money in taxes on E-cigs than they would if people kept smoking at the high taxes they are charged on normal cigs.

they don’t want you to quit, they are relying on your addiction being strong enough to pay any price.

kind of how they now say don’t get breast exams until you’re 50 instead of 40 (a theory most doctors do not support)… it’s getting you use to the rationing that is coming with the new HC bill.

welcome to America.

Oh my, 1 dangerous chemical!! Compared to the thousands of deadly chemicals in tobacco your warning falls flat. The previous poster was correct that the “antifreeze” chemical was not found consistently. Your article is media hype at its worst.

For people who are able to switch to e-cigarettes from tobacco the potential benefits are obvious. More testing would be nice but I’d be willing to bet that e-cigs will be proven far safer than tobacco.

It is unfortunate that twits like the author of this article malign something that could be very beneficial to the health of millions of tobacco smokers. Of course, I should expect as much from a “natural medicine” website. Nothing but excited, brainless hype here anyway.

The e-cig is beneficial to people who smoke, and to non-smokers as well since there’s no second-hand smoke involved. Wasn’t that the whole reason for the non-smokers to start using smokers as the scapegoats for everything that’s wrong with the world? Wasn’t the oh-so-severe threat of death by second-hand smoke the thing that gave non-smokers the “right” to ostracize smokers, butt into their lives, and make them feel like lepers?

I’m sick of it. Go and eat your artery-clogging Big Macs, you baby whiners, and let us smokers relax in the drawing room with our e-cigs.

I think it will be interesting to see how this all plays out. Judge Leon just gave the FDA a slap for trying to stop the import of e-cigs, some places are allowing them because it doesn’t violate the Clean Air act and some cities, like NJ are restricting the sale and use. We’ll see a lot of battles over the next year or two.

Meh, another biased report with presupposed conclusions. “This must be bad, now let’s find out how and why.”

Jefferson said that the federal government should be overthrown every 20 years and all existing laws thrown out, just to keep refreshing our liberties. People like to control people. The FDA is made up of people.

The article title should be: “Surprise: FDA Wants to Control your Behavior.”

I have not yet tried e-cigs, but I want all the info I can get about it. Just one chemical? That sounds enticing to say the least. I know the FDA is completely whacked out because of the amount of prescription drugs that have to be pulled off the market because of serious side effects. What I’m looking for is a completely non-biased opinion of this nicotine delivery system. I can’t afford to be wrong. I have terrible health side-effects from smoking, but have found no way to quit successfully. This being because I don’t have the money to throw away on quit assistance that never works, though I’ve been told they work by friends; friends who quit with the lozenge or whatever. I try it and fail. Then it’s back to smoking, but then it’s rollies for the rest of the month. No filter, and sometimes re-rolling the left-over tobacco from already smoked rollies, again with no filter. I’ve been trying to quit for 3 years, and have now given up finding a way to quit. Then I hear of e-cigs. Two chemicals as opposed to 4000plus? I gotta say, if I had the money to try it, and if it could be guaranteed it will work by a non-biased reader, I would feel so much better about the transition.

Alexis,

I have been a smoker for 25 years and have tryed everything to quit. My daughter told me about the E-cigarette and I have been using it now for 2 weeks.
I am actually at the point were I prefer the E-cigarette to the regular one. It takes a little getting use to because it is heavier than a reg cig., but the taste is better and the satisfaction is the same. Knowing that it is healthier, and you don’t feel like a leaper it worth the try. Save your money and go a head and get them. Here is where I bought mine not a bad deal about $60.00 bucks to start. http://iluvecigs.com/

I started my E-Cig adventure last Saturday. I bought the Njoy Pro starter kit. The reason I bought it was for a safer alternative to smoking around my 2yr old. Has it helped me? Yes it has. I have had probably 1 pack of cigaretts since Sunday. I actually hate the taste of real cigarettes now. This is coming from a person who has smoke since the age of 14 (40 now) and the last few years have been up to 3 packs a day. What a difference it is.
I can not honestly say if I feel better as I started with flu symptoms yesterday. I can breathe a little easier than I hve been able to under the same conditions, so I guess that might count.
Start with the full mg then slowly ween yourself down to the zero mg. By that time you should be able to actually quit all together. That is what I am planning to do now.

Just one piece of information. For the person who stated that Nicotine is not carcinogenic, this is false.

Now, I am currently moving into my 25th day without cigarettes, and fiending like crazy. As a result I am looking up E-cigarrettes. While it seems interesting, I am well aware that the major problem for me was indeed the nicotine, the mood swings and the withdrawal. Having it be socially difficult, having to go outside for a smoke, etc, has actually made it easier for me to quit. Just imagine if I just had to pop off to the bathroom to huff on my e-smoke. Or if I could do it on a plane? Or in the office? I’d never quit. And since I am one of those people who uses what they are given, without the cigarrette running down… How would I know when to stop? I’d go through a packwoth of nicotine in an hour.

I have stopped twice before, once for7 years and once for 6 years, before I started smoking again two years ago. I know I can do it, and I know I can do it without an e-cig. If you want to cut down, figure out how much you smoke a day, and when you smoke. knock out 5 smokes a day for a month. Avoid drinking and friends who smoke. Lower it again in another month… You will get there. Just don’t beat yourself up.

I’m suspicious of anything that enters your body as a ‘liquid gas’ but leaves your body in a plume of smoke.

Also there are natural tobaccos on the market that have no additives, either during the growing or drying cycle. To say that normal tobacco has antifreeze in it is wrong.

Ultimately, nobody is living forever,we inhale plastic and other toxic pollutants every single day. Tobacco in its natural form is actually less toxic than living in the inner city or working in many types of factory.

I have epilepsy and MS, I smoke a few roll-ups of natural tobacco / day. My epilepsy meds do more harm to me than my tobacco.

And to be honest I think in 10 years time the doctors will say that electronic anti-freeze smokers are at risk.

It is absurd to even think that ecigarettes are anywhere near as harmful as tobacco. The FDA study found trace amounts of a naturally occuring carcinogen in only one of the samples tested. and that particular brand has sued the FDA and now has immunity against being seized at the border by customs.
I have smoked tobacco for 20 years and tried to quit many many times with no luck. I quit very easily with ecigs in a matter of days and haven’t had a tobacco cigarette in over 4 months now and I don’t miss them at all.

I have been a smoker for over 30 years and always wanted but never did quit the habit.
My main concern about quitting was gaining weight.
Thanks to e-cigarettes I now only have a few puffs a day and have lost a few pounds.
Even IF an e-cigarette has more carcinogens than tobacco, it has helped me cut smoking from one pack a day to only a few puffs, and hopefully soon to no puffs at all.

here is few toxin that is in real cigertte includeing the one that is claimed to be in e cig Propylene Glycol

Acetone – A flammable, colorless liquid used as a
solvent. It’s one of the active ingredients in nail polish
remover. The tobacco industry refuses to say how
acetone gets into cigarettes.

Ammonia – A colorless, pungent gas. The tobacco
industry says that it adds flavor, but scientists have
discovered that ammonia helps you absorb more
nicotine – keeping you hooked on smoking.

Arsenic – A silvery-white very poisonous chemical
element. This deadly poison is used to make
insecticides, and it is also used to kill gophers and rats.

Benzene – A flammable liquid obtained from coal tar
and used as a solvent. This cancer-causing chemical is
used to make everything from pesticides to detergent to
gasoline.

Benzoapyrene – A yellow crystalline carcinogenic
hydrocarbon found in coal tar and cigarette smoke. It’s
one of the most potent cancer-causing chemicals in the
world.

Butane – A hydrocarbon used as a fuel. Highly
flammable butane is one of the key ingredients in
gasoline.

Cadmium – A metallic chemical element used in alloys.
This toxic metal causes damage to the liver, kidneys,
and the brain; and stays in your body for years.

Formaldehyde – A colorless pungent gas used in
solution as a disinfectant and preservative. It causes
cancer; damages your lungs, skin and digestive system.
Embalmers use it to preserve dead bodies.

Lead – A heavy bluish-gray metallic chemical element.
This toxic heavy metal causes lead poisoning, which
stunts your growth, and damages your brain. It can
easily kill you.

Propylene Glycol – A sweet hygroscopic viscous liquid
used as antifreeze and as a solvent in brake fluid. The
tobacco industry claims they add it to keep cheap
“reconstituted tobacco” from drying out, but scientists
say it aids in the delivery of nicotine (tobaccos active
drug) to the brain.

Turpentine – A colorless volatile oil. Turpentine is very
toxic and is commonly used as a paint thinner.

not the metion there is over 4000 + chemical in a real cigerette so even a few toxin in a e cig would out way the potencial danger of real cig

Wow I wonder why the tobacco industry doesn,t get their chemicals seized at the border. If the Author of this article says e-cigarettes are dangerous, he is getting kick backs. So I will thank him for his bull shit. Quit tobacco and am now switching to the e cig. Hooray! Keep the bull coming boys. We know what this country is about and that is taxation and hypocracy. I will be a contrarian. PS stay away from those government statements of getting flu shots. Who knows where thats headed.

I have been using the e-cig for four months, I had a Dr. appointment on Friday the 23rd – My blood pressure is now normall, wow always been high and my breath test thingy (I think they look for carbon monoxide) is normall – I am 45 have been smoking since I was 15, I have stopped for two 3 year periods and numerous 3 to 4 month periods, plus about a thousand 1 to 6 day false starts. (or stops if you see what I mean)

My wife (also 45) has been smoking for 30 Years and has now finally stopped using an e-cig, she is now training to run a half marathon.

If you smoke normall cigs and have tried and failed to stop get an e-cig, try a few until you get the one that suits you.

I found it easier to stop completely for a week (using usual nicotine replacement things; patches, gum…etc)

Then when you feal really depressed change to the e-gic, hopefully it will be a revalation.

Don’t let the tobacco companies, or the fear of not have a conventional cig keep you a slave to them, take control of your life and vap not smoke.

Anyone saying these are bad and people shouldn’t use them to quit smoking are completely overlooking the fact that cigarettes are 10x worse. It’s a lesser evil and then some. Big Tobacco needs to stop paying people to scare quitters.

They I.D. at my mall, as opposed to the local gas station (where underaged kids buy cigarettes all the time). I smoked three packs a day while I served in the military, and after these came out I managed to ween myself down from 24Mg down to 0 Mg and now I don’t even use my ecigarette. So go ahead and make your retarded claims, I personally thank the companies that make the ecig for saving my life.

Today is Day 15 for me and this new tool, a smoker for almost 40 years. This is the longest I’ve ever gone without smoking a cigerette.

My clothes and breath don’t reek, which my gf really likes. I don’t have to use copious amounts of cologne (Polo blue) to cover it up. I’m breathing better and seem to have more endurance.

Saving $65/wk. doesn’t hurt-I was smoking American Spirits.

I’m looking forward to recovering my health and what the next 40 years beholds. Thank you to the inventor of this product and those responsible for getting it to market.

May: Anti-freeze is INDEED used in the preservation of the elasticity of the tobacco leaves by keeping them moist, but this doesn’t matter. Saying that people who puff on ecigs are anti-freeze smokers is about as closed-minded as it gets. Read the FDA report from the link posted in one of the first few comments above.

One more thought.. natural or not, now that smokers have been inundated with FSC (Fire Safe Cigarettes), that’s another untested chemical applied to the paper of ALL cigarettes that people are combusting and inhaling. Why isn’t the FDA testing this?

BAD SIDE EFFECTS FOR ME!

Was so pleased to be changing to a “safer” cigarette that could be smoked anywhere. However the vaporizer from the company I ordered was not working more than a couple times. Called the company and was advised to prime the vaporizer with a drop of the nicotine liquid intended to refill cartridges. Kept having to do that to get the vapor, with disastrous consequences: Bizarre behavior, shaking, collapse…with absolutely NO MEMORY for the event. Ended up being taken to ICU for a day and night before I was back to normal again. SCARY!

@mel014u – Bizarre behavior, shaking, collapse are all symptoms of nicotine withdrawal and or nicotine over dose. your e-cig wasn’t working and you therefore did not get your nic fix and your body reacted poorly -or- that piece of junk you had was over delivering nicotine so you OD’d. This is a case for regulation but not a case for banishment and banishment seems to be all the FDA wants.

Try buying a better product. I have been using the ‘SmokeTip’ if you charge the batteries correctly when you first get the device it will continue to work properly for you. From what I have seen the reviews show it as the number 1 over all e-cig out there. The vapor production is said by some to be a little sub standard but not bad in general. It uses synthetic nicotine such as found in the nicotine inhalers sold by big pharma approved by the FDA. it also contains propylene glycol, and ingredient approved by the FDA for usage in food and drugs, most notably in asthma nebulizers. Then it has water and flavoring, again approved by the FDA for human consumption. It baffles my mind when the FDA tries to ban a product in which all of the ingredients have all ready been approved by them.

The FDA is a business. Run by many of the same people who work for big pharma. they have only their own monetary interests in mind. E-cigs are the biggest threat to many of the useless smoking cessation products like the patch and the gum which have very poor success rates. They also are a threat to the taxes we collect from smokers now. in New York State smokers pay over $3.00/pack in taxes. a pack-a-day smoker therefore spends $21/week in state taxes. That’s $1092 per year that will no longer be collected every time a pack-a-day smoker switches to the CLEARLY SAFER OPTION.

Now to apply logic: The taxes levied on cigarettes are intended to cover the social costs of smoking. These cost logically include medical treatment for smokers and people effected by second hand smoke and also smoking cessation assistance (I.e. free patches and gum). A PROPERLY CONSTRUCTED e-cig will not cause cancer(no carcinogens present) nor should it be a major cause of respiratory illness. Based upon this there is no reason to need the taxes from cigarettes if a smoker switched to e-cigs. Overwhelmingly smokers who switch to e-cigs report dramatic improvement in lung function. My wheezing is a thing of that past after only 3 days of using the e-cig. I take can deep breaths again. I am not the only one reporting these astonishing results. We all need to face the fact that this new product is a man made miracle that will save millions of lives. Stopping this product from being produced and sold would be a misguided tragedy repatriated by our very own government and uninformed citizens.

As far as using these products in public. where ever I can use a nebulizer i should be able to use my e-cig. With 1 known exception (‘Smokeing everywheres’ product) there are no chemicals in toxic levels of any kind in the 2nd hand vapor. Some people are claiming that because it makes people cough that it must be bad. This coughing is not a bad thing, it is the ex-smokers lungs healing them selves and reportedly goes away with in a few weeks of usage. Vapor, an expectorant, causes the lungs to expel the years of sludge built up within. Once the lungs have ‘cleaned out’ the sludge the e-cig user recovers from the coughing symptoms and enjoys a greatly improved quality of life. My dry hacking cough switched to a lubricated productive cough with in 8 hours of switching to the e-cig. Any doctor will verify that this change in the smokers cough is a good thing. Just like with coughs from colds or flus, dry hacking = getting worse, moist and productive = getting better. I AM THEREFORE GETTING BETTER.

One last thing – Nicotine is a drug and is addictive. care should be applied to usage of all nicotine products. Patches, gum, real cigs and e-cigs should be kept of out reach of children and pets. Non smokers looking to use the e-cig should get the zero nicotine versions. Personal responsibility should be applied, we should not be treated like children. You should not limit people because you are worried about your children getting addicted, its called parenting and more Americans should try it sometime.

As for the marketing to kids claims the FDA and others have made; Alcohol comes in all kinds of flavors. adults like flavors too. Do adults that go get ice cream only order plain ice cream? NO, I’ve never even seen plain unflavored ice cream. variety is the delicious spice of life.

Stop the pin heads and the greedy from telling us what to do!!!!

I have attempted to quit smoking many times. Never successful for more then a few months at a time. I tried patch, patch + welbutrin (sp?), a couple kinds of pills, none of it worked very well for long. Different things work for different folks. I’ve smoked since ‘96 and recently had my first kids, twins, about 8 months ago. So I bought a red dragon (e9 clone) about 2 months ago. I took this as total life style change time. Began working out 3 times a week, watched what I ate and how much I ate, and cut back my smoking gradually. Now I carry my e-cig everywhere I go, I smoke only one cigarette a day with a coworker, have lost 35 pounds, and feel better then ever. I enjoy smoking, I really do. I can now puff on this ecig in my house (still dont do around kids) in the evenings while watching TV. I refill the cartridges (called dripping) with juice from Johnson Creek that tastes far superior. I am down to a mid nicotine level cartridge and am doing great. I will probably continue to use this ecig after Im down to 0mg cartridges due to the relaxation and by filling them myself there is very little cost involved. There may be drawl backs to this ecig, but nothing more then what you find walking by a running car, or far healthier then eatin fast food. You have to decide whether its for you or not. Oh and as for the flavors being used to target children, this is total BS. I prefer the flavored carts far more then the traditional tobacco flavor. People need to stop assuming they know everything when in reality they dont know jack and think so much of themselves that they feel its their duty to lie to people because they think they know better. Like calling the glycol the same as antifreeze. Just because there is a common ingredient doesn’t make it the same. Fast food has oil in it. My F-150 has oil in it. Does that mean Burger King should be accused of feeding people fords? Nope, your just an idiot.

I have tried to quit smoking many times. I called the quit smoking line, I tried cold turkey, but the only ways I have successfully quit smoking was when I was pregnant and when I have tried the e-cig. I never enjoyed the smell of a real one, never liked the film it left on my teeth, the yellow teeth, the bad morning cough, etc. All I needed or desired was the nicotine. It is a downer and I smoke when I am stressed or anxious. I tried to quit and without the de-stresser I lost control and ended up smoking again. With the e-cig, I have the nicotine but not all the other stuff I hate about the real thing. To be honest, I feel much better as a mother, wife, friend, and member of society when I don’t smoke real cigs. I don’t litter now, I don’t send deadly toxins into the air for others to breath in, I don’t go around stinking places up with the smell of smoke. I feel better!!!! And my breathing is getting better also.

I have been “smoking” the e-cig for just a few days. I really enjoy the variety of flavors. I am still on the coffee ones when I am finished I think I will try Chocolate. I figured it out. For a month of real cigarettes it will cost me $130. For my new E-cigs. the catridges for a month will cost me about $50. I am spending about 1/3 of normal cigarettes, and I wont have to buy lighters, or fluid for lighters, I wont have to bum cigs to people, I wont have to buy gum incase I have an appointment, ie: job interview, to cover up the smell. I am saving a lot of money, and I already feel a little better, and can smell and taste more.

No… disagree. One of the dangers of smoking tobacco cigarettes is the threat of carbon monoxide. Many users never had an alternative to tobacco that allowed them to get the same sensation but without carbon monoxide. Those days are over. Â The electronic cigarette allows to smoke a vapor that is free of carbon monoxide. This is just one of the many benefits that the electronic cigarette vapor has to offer over smoke. The fact that the vapor is 100% tar free is a major plus and a big reason to make the switch from real cigarettes. It has been proven that burning and smoking tobacco can cause tar to enter your body. This is one of the biggest problems associated with smoking cigarettes. The electronic cigarette has solved this problem and there is no longer any tar to worry about.

I was trying to quit my light smoking habit of 1 pack a week. Yes, I said one pack a week. I tried the e-cig. I liked the e-cig. I smoked more with the e-cig. 3 weeks after smoking using the e-cig one of the cartridges failed and I enhaled a mouthful of liquid nicotene. The next day I had a heart attack. Don’t know if one thing relates to another (just saying it was weird). Don’t smoke at all now.

Not all Glycols are made the same.
Do not propose to know chemistry when you speak half truths to compare something safe to something dangerous.

Ecigs contain Propylene, Vegetable and/or Polyethylene Glycol. All are non-toxic and used in a vast majority of pharmaceuticals and even tattooing.

It is Ethylene Glycol that is poisonous (without the “poly” prefix) since it is absorbed into the body.

Polyethlyene Glycol is osmotically balanced and not absorbed.

Both may be components in antifreeze as is water and ethanol (drinking alcohol). do you claim that water and vodka are dangerous poisons as well? After all I can provide evidence. lets face it, Vodka can cause liver damage and water can drowned you. So why dont you write an article to not drink water or Any Alcoholic beverages. Or have the FDA control water as a hazardous substance and raise taxes on your utility bills. Ohh yeah because they tried that in the prohibition and not drinking any water will Kill you!

Stop glamorizing a false fear factor for shock value and get your facts straight first.
