Aspartame Gets a New Name Be Warned

Posted by: Natural Medicine In: Community|Eating and Lifestyle|News

With a growing awareness of the dangers of artificial sweeteners, aspartame producer Ajinomoto is attempting to rebrand the sweetener as “AminoSweet”. A play on the chemistry of the product.

The artificial sweetener is marketed under various trademark names, including NutraSweet. It is pervasive and is an ingredient of approximately 6,000 consumer foods and beverages sold worldwide.

Over 25 years ago, aspartame was first introduced into the European food supply over 25 years ago, and has been dogged by health concerns ever since.

Although approved in many countries, concerns continue to be raised over possible side effects. In a well know case in 1976, then FDA Commissioner Alexander Schmidt wrote a letter to Sen. Ted Kennedy expressing concern over the “questionable integrity of the basic safety data submitted for aspartame safety”.

Some of the possible side effects that have been claimed of aspartame include:

  • Convulsions
  • Vision problems
  • Headache
  • Vomiting, nausea
  • Joint aches and pain

Aspartame is known to cause illness and toxic reactions in the body. It is very harmful. It is present in artificial sweeteners. You need to reduce the consumption of artificial sweeteners. Aspartame contains Phenylalanine which is one form of amino acids which is quite dangerous. It is better to drink water than these sweet beverages. People consuming aspartame might have the following disorders like multiple sclerosis, dizziness, headaches etc. For more details refer http://www.areyoudiabetic.net/aspartame-dangers.html

I have been plagued with UTIs for decades. I had one when I went for my annual appointment with my GYN. The exam didn’t not cause any pain, but the UTI was horrific. After the exam, I told my GYN’s R.N. about the UTI. She asked if I’d been drinking lots of fluids, and had seen my urologist. Yes to both…
I told her that I drank a LOT of Crystal Light. I thought she’s faint!! She told me that a lot of women come to see my GYN with painful UTIs, and they all drank Crystal Light. It contains aspertame; it can cause women to have UTIs! I’ve not had Crystal Light since!!

I believe that I’m living proof of the dangers of Aspartame. In 1984, I was drinking alot of diet pepsi each day. Things went horribly wrong. I was agitated alot and couldn’t focus on anything. I was put on disability for three months from my job. During those three months, they sent me to doctors, and psychologists. I was given EEG’s EKG’s, upper GI, x-rayed to the point that I thought I’d glow in the dark. Nothing.

I started having what was described to me as panic attacks. Neighbors and family and even a girlfriend at the time were calling the para-medics out two or three times per week because I would start breathing rapidly and end up in a fetal position on the floor with my fingers folding up to my hands. When I wasn’t having these problems, I was exhibiting odd behavior.

I ended up sitting in a corner behind my couch for what must have been nearly two weeks when finally, the only way to describe it is that I became aware I was doing something odd.

Recently, I unknowingly got aspartame again in something I ate, and/or drank. I just went through a week of many of those same events again. Luckily, one of those events triggered in my mind what had happened before and I started searching for where I may have gotten aspartame and I found it. It’s taken me nearly a full week to finally get it out of my system where I’m thinking straight and don’t seem to have anymore of those problems.

People can question whether aspartame is dangerous all they like, but as for me, I know what it’s done to me. Panic attacks, agitation, lack of patience, some depression, stomach pain, lack of sleep, and discovered today that I’m not remembering some things from the week before leading up to this past week. My problem is that I don’t know how long I’ve been building up to it. I know now that I’ve been getting aspartame for at least the last six weeks without knowing it. My fear is that I’ve hurt others, especially those that I love, with my words during that time.

There is only one place for this product as far as I’m concerned and I’d be happy to hold the bonfire to put it in that place if it would get rid of the aspartame entirely.

My mom told me that she had been drinking a lot of diet pop for a while – which has aspartame in it. She is a normally healthy person, but started feeling tired and achey in her muscles all the time. She couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her. When she thought it might be the diet pop, she stopped drinking it. Symptoms disappeared.

You can thank Donald Rumsfeld for the aspartame in our foods. Don’t believe me, look it up for yourself.
