True Pilates Maui is an Authentic™ studio in the tradition of the work as was originally brought to the world by Joseph Pilates and then handed off to Romana Kryzanowska upon his death in 1967.  

Mabelle Bastien, instructor and owner of True Pilates Maui, studied under and was certified by Romana Kryzanowska in 2002 after completing a grueling internship at the Seattle International Pilates Center in Seattle, Washington.  She brings a background of athletics as an ex pro volleyball beach player.  She is a historical character in the game as seen in "The Sands of Time/History of Beach Volleyball Volume II).  Mabelle  taught yoga for 17 years before graduating to Pilates.  She was on the college swim team and presently does Master's swimming and is an avid surfer.  Before becoming an Authentic™ Pilates instructor, Bastien, in her own words:  "I always was teaching some sort of physical movement and developing my eye for subleties."   She was a volleyball coach, a swim coach, a physical education teacher and a yoga teacher.  For more information about Mabelle Bastien see "www.truepilatesmaui.com".
