Healthy Snacks For Your Detox
Planing is important to help make the food changes required for a good liver or system cleanse. We love to snack and having a list of healthy snacks for your detox can be very handy when you just need something to munch. Here is a good list to chew on. And, of course, organic whenever possible.
Snacks Not Packaged
- Apples, celery, or carrots with almond or sunflower butter (cane sugar an ingredient) or tahini
- Celery or carrots with hummus
- Raw nuts, seeds and nut butters (excluding peanuts) i.e. pecans, sunflower seeds, hazelnuts, pumpkin seeds, walnuts and tamari almonds; you may mix with a little dried fruit such as raisins or cranberries. All dried fruit should be used sparingly and un-sugared.
- Baked chicken legs and wings
- Hard boiled eggs
- Just water: Eight to twelve 8 oz. glasses of filtered or bottled water per day
Pre-prepared or Pre-packaged Snacks
- Baked sweet potato chips, Terra chips
- Baked apple chips, Baked carrot chips
- Salad dressing like Newman’s Own or any dressing prepared with cold pressed/organic oils and no additives or preservatives
- Ryvita, Wasa, Japanese rice, Mary’s All Gone or Sudajan crackers Brown rice snaps or unsalted rice cakes with almond or sunflower butter (cane sugar an ingredient)
- Hummus, Tempinada
- Organic beans
- Thai noodle dishes (any rice noodle packaged with seasoning) avoid products containing: msg or hydrogenated and trans fats
- Acceptable sweeteners are Agave Sweetener or Stevia found at health food stores and in some supermarket health food sections
The Avoid List
- All foods made with trans/partially hydrogenated/hydrogenated fats and msg
- All pre-packaged or pre-prepared foods, unless they are included in the above list
- All sugars and artificial sweeteners (unless they are included in the above list), alcohol, sodas and fruit juices
